About Montserrat

Julieta Ulanovsky drew Montserrat from the posters, painted signs and shop fronts of the Montserrat neighbourhood in Buenos Aires. The result is a wide, geometric sans with an urban, confident tone. It is most often reached for when designers want the look of Gotham or Proxima Nova without a commercial licence.

Best used for

Headlines and hero sections
Brand and logo wordmarks
Posters, banners and social graphics
Navigation and buttons in uppercase

What to pair it with

Montserrat is wide and bold, so it pairs well with a calmer serif for body text such as Lora or Merriweather. Avoid using its heaviest weights for long paragraphs.
